Patikim 2008

For the past several years now, Pasig Seventh-day Adventist Church is conducting their annual Patikim Festival which highlights the most innovative, nutritious and vegan dishes made by their members.  “Patikim” is a Filipino word which means to “taste,” and this festival primary aims are to introduce healthy diet as well as the vegan diet.  Following are some of the recipes of the participants:

Corn Soup Ala Cel

Ingredients:

  • Corn Kernel
  • Garlic
  • Carrots
  • Onion
  • Chayote
  • Oil
  • Salt
  • Cornstarch
  • Sugar
  • Red Bell Pepper (optional)
  • Water
  • Non-Dairy Creamer (optional)

Procedure:
1. Finely chop garlic and onion.
2. Chop carrots, chayote, and red bell pepper into fine cube cuts.
3. Prepare the casserole with oil then saute’ garlic and onion.
4. Add water, wait until it boils then add the carrots, chayote, corn kernel and red bell pepper.
5. Add cornstarch and non-dairy creamer to thicken the soup.
6. While it boils, put a little of salt and sugar to taste.
7. Serve while hot.
